The Gordon Archibald Medal has been awarded to a very well-liked and respected member of CHAP Group.

The North East Scotland College and Aberdeen Wrights and Coopers Incorporation hosted the prestigious annual Construction Awards ceremony in Trinity Hall, Aberdeen last week.

The evening was held to celebrate the students’ successful completion of Advanced Carpentry & Joinery and HNC Built Environment courses and to recognise and honour apprentices in their trade.

Kim Floyd, an estimator with the CHAP Group, was invited to attend the special awards ceremony having recently completed her HNC Built Environment course at NESCOL on a day release basis.

Kim was among a group of five candidates that were in contention for the Gordon Archibald Medal for an HNC Built Environment project, for which they had to submit a design proposal and give a presentation on.

The medal is awarded annually in memory of Gordon Archibald, a former Deacon of the Wrights and Coopers, who died in 2007 after 54 years membership of the incorporation.

The judges were extremely impressed with Kim’s submission and it was her attention to detail and extensive knowledge that saw her triumph over her fellow classmates and being awarded the prestigious medal.

Joining Kim for the evening was Kim’s fiancé, sister and father, as well as her colleague Neil Robertson, contracts manager at CHAP. All were fortunate to see the surprise on her face when she picked up the award.

Neil said: “We are extremely proud of Kim and she thoroughly deserves this award. She is an absolute credit to the CHAP Group and we are delighted that her hard work has been recognised by others in the industry.”
