A Construction Management course at Robert Gordon University (RGU) has received industry accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

The university’s BSc (Hons) in Construction Management received the stamp of approval by the CIOB, meaning the industry body recognises it reaches the highest standards of governance, quality assurance and resource management and will provide students with the skills and knowledge for a career in the global construction industry.

Professor David McClean, Head of the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment at RGU, said: “We are delighted the BSc (Hons) Construction Management course has gained this accreditation from the CIOB.

“At RGU, our priority is for all our courses to be as relevant to industry as possible and to ensure that our students are well equipped with the skills and knowledge that potential employers will look for.

“Industry accreditation gives students the confidence that this course is recognised within the sector they are aiming to enter as providing exactly that.”

The BSc course provides students with a broad educational base in design, construction and commercial management, in preparation for a career as a construction professional. Throughout the course there is a focus on operational and production issues associated with the construction of buildings and infrastructure projects.

Course content is directly informed and guided by new industrial developments emerging in the areas of technology and management, as well as by research carried out by experts within the School.
