City Building charity work spreads Christmas warmth across Glasgow

Glasgow-based construction services business City Building is giving the gift of festive joy to families across the city with a series of charitable initiatives aimed at supporting children.

As part of its commitment to having a positive impact on communities, the company has made a corporate donation of £2,000 to The Lord Provost’s Fund. The money will be distributed to 10 local schools to ensure children have warm coats this winter.

In the spirit of the season, the company’s dedicated staff also hosted a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13 December to raise funds for Cash for Kids.
In total City Building employees raised an amazing £1,020 to support the charity which helps children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness and those who have additional needs.

Adding to the festive cheer, the company’s apprentices have showcased their craftsmanship by helping to build Santa’s Grotto for the Lord Provost of Glasgow’s Baby’s First Christmas event. The event, which takes place annually, welcomes 250 babies born after 1 November to the city.

This year’s Baby’s First Christmas was hosted on Saturday 7 December, with the grotto taking centre stage in the celebrations and providing festive joy for the families who attended.

Staff also participated in the Glasgow Spirit of Christmas, a campaign which ensures every child receives a gift on Christmas Day, no matter their circumstances. Employees are given information about a child and are to purchase them a gift, with just under 300 gifts delivered to children across the city.

Frank McCafferty, interim executive director, City Building, said: “Christmas is traditionally a magical time for families, but many continue to struggle financially following the cost-of-living crisis, while others with physical and mental health conditions have limited opportunity to take part in the festivities.

“Our team is proud to be making a difference for families that need our help most, and we hope our efforts inspire others to spread kindness this winter.”
