Clancy Consulting, the multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy firm, has appointed Gordon Megahy as the director of its board after he joined the practice 18 months ago.

Gordon Megahy joined Clancy’s Glasgow office as part of the acquisition of DBM Consultants in 2021 and he has been championing structural timber frame solutions to clients across Scotland, and further afield, ever since.

With specialist expertise in timber kit design, Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), and glulam and cross-laminated timber design, Mr Megahy and his team deliver schemes across the UK, collaborating with several national specialist manufacturers and off-site providers, predominantly working on new build and extensions in the residential, education, student living and healthcare sectors.

A well-respected industry figurehead in timber frame design and construction, Mr Megahy is an active member of the Structural Timber Association (STA) via his position on the STA Board. Since joining Clancy, he has also ensured accreditation success in reaching the STA Assure Gold standard for the practice.

Alongside the promotion of Mr Megahy, are two additional board director appointments in Clancy’s Manchester office. Daniel Singh and Steve Dewberry, who oversee the civil and structural engineering team and MEP engineering team respectively, will join Gordon in their new leadership roles.

This announcement follows Chris Acton taking the reins as Clancy’s new CEO earlier this year and shaping exciting plans for the next chapter of the consultancy firm.

Mr Acton said: “It’s with great pleasure that I announce these promotions. Since day one of joining, Gordon, Daniel and Steve have made a considerable positive impact to the business and I’m excited to see them play a significant part in shaping the strategic future of Clancy alongside myself and the other board directors.

“There’s a fantastic opportunity to continue the sustained growth of our structural timber frame solutions to our clients and Gordon will be front and centre in this evolution.”
