Clark Contracts completes new Ian Macleod Distillers HQ
Clark Contracts has completed the design and build of Ian MacLeod Distillers new headquarters in Broxburn.
The new office, known as Peter Russell House, is located within East Mains Industrial Estate, only a short distance from the distiller’s previous head office and adjacent to their bottling facility. This office will serve as the base for Ian Macleod Distillers many brands including Edinburgh Gin, Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Rosebank.
The steel-framed building provides 21,000 sq ft of accommodation across two wings linked by a glass atrium and includes office space and a bar area. Externally, the new HQ features two glazed lantern roof lights, modelled on the Doig Ventilator or ‘pagoda roof’, to reflect the characteristic of whisky distilleries.
As part of the project, Clark Contracts’ in-house Manufactured Joinery Division delivered a bespoke furniture package, including a reception desk, boardroom display units, timber screens and cladding.
Clark Contracts worked alongside Axiom Project Services, Simon Laird Associates, KJ Tait Engineers, Applied Engineering Design and EPC Associates to deliver the project.
The main contractor is also on site delivering a further project for Ian Macleod Distillers, constructing car parking facilities at their Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk.
Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts, said: “It has been fantastic to be involved in the delivery of this high-quality development, which will provide collaborative work space for Ian MacLeod Distillers staff, as well as an inviting space for their clients. We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Ian Macleod Distillers on our current project at their Rosebank Distillery.”
Mike Younger, finance director at Ian MacLeod Distillers, added: “The new office is a transformation from our previous home. It is calming, open, and strikingly spacious. It is key to creating a team spirit and aids collaboration. It is a superb building for welcoming visitors. Clark Contracts followed the brief, respected our quality standards, and delivered the stunning building we hoped for.”
Ryan Jarvis, project director at Axiom, commented: “This was a great project for Axiom Project Services to be involved in. The end product is a testament to IMD, and their drive to deliver a fantastic workspace for their staff. As well as Clark Contracts and their design team for an excellent project delivery.”
