Clark Contracts hosts 2024 Health and Safety Awards

Clark Contracts’ annual Health and Safety Awards ceremony was held on Thursday 5th December at the ODEON Cinema at Braehead.

The firm’s health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) manager hosted the event, which was attended by all project teams. During the ceremony, an overview of the company’s health and safety performance over the past year was provided, highlighting examples of best practice and any common issues, to minimise reoccurrence.

Prizes were then presented to the project teams and individuals recording the highest compliance rates in their audits throughout the year, and to those who go beyond the minimum standards by implementing innovative techniques.

The awards up for grabs at the annual ceremony included:

  • 4th Quarter Divisional Health and Safety Awards
  • Project of the Year
  • Contracts Manager of the Year
  • Special Recognition Award

Throughout the year, at the end of each quarter, awards are presented to the highest performing project teams from the Construction, Small Works and Fit Out Divisions. During the awards ceremony, the fourth quarter awards were presented to the best performing teams from each of the divisions, before moving on to the annual awards.

The prestigious ‘Project of the Year’ award was presented the team who completed the refurbishment of a laboratory within the Rankine Building for the University of Glasgow. This project was selected due to demonstrating a high level of compliance in all areas of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management, along with beyond compliance initiatives. These works were also undertaken in a live building with student interaction in multiple areas.

The Contracts Manager of the Year award was presented to a contracts manager from the Fit Out Division, who achieved a compliance rate of 100% across 8 projects.

The Special Recognition award was presented to a site manager from the Fit Out division who within the past three years, has delivered 14 projects, all with a 100% compliance rate.

The awards are a key part of Clark Contracts’ health and safety culture which has supported its success in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)’s annual awards. In 2024, the firm was presented with a fourth consecutive Order of Distinction following 18 Gold Medal awards.
