Clark Contracts logs record month with £11m of March deals

Clark_ContractsGlasgow and Edinburgh-based Clark Contracts has recorded its most successful month for new business in its 37-year history after picking up £11 million worth of orders in March.

The construction, maintenance and refurbishment business said contracts ranged in value from £120,000 to £4.7m, with the largest being an agreement to start the first phase of the Denny town centre regeneration plan for Falkirk Council.

The project will include building 10 retail units, a library, car parking and a new town square.

Other public sector wins included the revamping of a vehicle depot in Kilmarnock for East Ayrshire Council, while the firm’s maintenance division won build, drainage and electrical work from Stirling Council.

Private sector work secured last month will also see Clark build a new retail unit in Falkirk on the site of a former garage for catering company David’s Kitchen.

Meanwhile, expanding on its presence in the further education sector, agreement was also reached on contracts with Abertay, Edinburgh and Strathclyde universities.

Gordon Cunningham, who became Clark’s managing director in 2005, said: “In terms of winning new business, this is the most successful month ever in the company’s 37- year history.

“We believe this puts us in a strong position to achieve our third consecutive year of growth.”
