Clark Contracts to start on Cadder’s new community centre
Work on Cadder Housing Association’s new community centre is to commence at the end of the month after Clark Contracts was appointed to the build.
The £3 million development will be located on the site of the redundant sports hall and will be a major asset to Cadder providing space for a range of activities and services for residents in Cadder and neighbouring communities.
Cadder Housing Association’s director, Kenny Mollins, said: “The commencement of the new community project is a landmark event and the culmination of over 4 years work since Cadder Housing Association took on the management of the centre, following the planned closure by the City Council in 2010.
“We are delighted to have reached this stage and would like to thank local residents and groups; consultants and funders who have supported and funded the development of this exciting regeneration project. We look forward to opening the new facility in October 2015 and to have a full programme of activities to maximize use of the Cadder’s new community centre.”
The Association’s Chairperson, Linda Brown expressed her delight at the appointment of the contractors and imminent start of the new community centre and added: “We are overjoyed that Cadder will now have its own community centre that has been designed to meet the needs and aspirations of local residents.
“It has been a major achievement and I would again like to thank the Committee, staff, consultants, partners and funders who have played their part in making this project real, which will provide a facility for local people and future generations in Cadder.”
