Clydebank housing development granted planning permission

Plans to build 126 homes on the site of a former high school in Clydebank have been given the go ahead.

The old St Andrew’s High School site, on North Douglas Street, will be made up of affordable housing for rent, as well as specialist housing for residents with additional needs.

The properties being built will vary in size, ranging from one bedroom flats to five bedroom houses.

The details were heard at a meeting of West Dunbartonshire Council’s planning committee last week, where councillors agreed the plans.

Councillor Diane Docherty, vice convener for the committee, and convener of housing and communities, said: “We are committed to providing good quality affordable housing for our residents, and the site of the former St Andrew’s High School is a prime spot.

“Our More Homes Better Homes programme – a commitment to build 1000 new homes by 2021 – is an ambitious target, but one that we are determined to make. The decision taken by the committee this week will ensure we are best placed to do that.”
