Colaren Homes completes land purchase for Fraserburgh business park

Colaren Homes has started work to create a new business park in Fraserburgh after it purchased a five-acre site from Aberdeenshire Council.

The development will provide a mix of office, retail, and commercial units at the South Harbour Road site.

The land has previously been under offer for circa 20 years to a variety of parties for uses such as a hotel, garden centre, and retail development. It is zoned in the Local Development Plan for bulky comparison retail outlets.

To be called Colaren Quays Business Park, the development could possibly include drive-thru food/drink outlets.

Full planning permission was granted in November 2023 for Phase 1 of the development which will be accessed from South Harbour Road. This phase will contain a new office headquarters for the Scottish White Fish Producers Association (SWFPA), which has set out plans for “an iconic landmark building” which will be an attractive gateway feature at this main entry point into the town.

Colaren Homes will also be building new business units in Phase 1 which will be available to rent.

Phase 2 will be accessed from Cemetery Road, and it is currently being marketed to various retail and commercial operators by agent FG Burnett.

Colaren Homes said: “We believe the development will be attractive to major retail and commercial operators as it’s situated opposite to the existing retail park (Argos, Lidl, Toolstation, Tesco) in a prominent location in Fraserburgh with good links to the harbour and the town centre.

“The development will be compatible with the masterplan for Fraserburgh Harbour and the plans to rejuvenate Fraserburgh’s beachfront.

“This is a really exciting time for the future of Fraserburgh. With the town being chosen as the O&M Port for the Moray East offshore windfarm, and the rapid expansion of the renewable energy sector, Fraserburgh is ideally placed to take advantage of these opportunities in terms of jobs and inward investment.

“The Colaren Quays Business Park is arguably the most exciting development in Fraserburgh for a generation. It will support dozens of jobs and help to boost the local economy.”
