Colorado Construction comes to apprentice joiner’s rescue
Colorado Construction has highlighted “the power of networks” after agreeing to take on a joinery apprentice who was being made redundant.
West Lothian College sent a plea via the West Lothian Construction Forum for a new employer to offer Jack Jenkins, one of its SVQ students, a joinery apprenticeship to allow him to continue on the course.
Jack is now working with Colorado’s project manager Mark Kennedy at the builder’s Kirknewton housing development, getting it ready for handover.
The construction company has thanked Alison Rogers, employer engagement and business development officer at West Lothian Council, and Brenda Cumming, deputy CEO at West Lothian Chamber of Commerce, for recommending Jack.
Colorado director Mark Hamilton said: “Helping Jack – and others – to develop is how we can ensure a solid future for construction.”
