Construction data dashboard relaunches with refreshed data and new look

A key tool to support decision-making in Scotland’s construction sector has been relaunched with an updated interface, improved functionality, and new data insights.

The Scottish Construction Industry Data Dashboard, first launched in 2022, has undergone a significant refresh. This update has been delivered by the CLF Data Working Group and Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) in partnership with University of Strathclyde and Bellrock Technology, using Bellrock’s AI agent-based platform as a service technology, deckchair.

Originally launched as part of the CLF’s industry recovery plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dashboard was created to help inform better decision-making across industry and government. It brings together publicly available data to provide insight into economic activity, employment and earnings, health and safety, and training and education in the construction sector.

Following a period of consultation with CLF members and industry, including workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather feedback, the refreshed dashboard now offers a cleaner, more structured layout for easier navigation; enhanced visual design and usability; additional datasets and insights exploring levels of innovation and environmental issues; and continued access to freely available, regularly updated data sources.

The dashboard remains a vital tool for those involved in planning, policy, investment, and delivery within the built environment.

Lorraine Wood, performance & data manager at BE-ST, member of the CLF Data working group, and lead of the Dashboard refresh, said: “This dashboard is a great example of industry, academia and technology providers coming together to support strategic decision-making. With better access to data, the sector can be more proactive, responsive and aligned in tackling key challenges like skills, productivity and sustainability.”

Dave McConachie, CCO of Bellrock Technology, said: “In working with BE-ST to develop the Data Dashboard, with deckchair as the underlying technology stack, we are unlocking sector-wide insights that will drive smarter investment, improve productivity, and accelerate progress toward net zero. This collaboration enables both government, academia and industry to make faster, data-led decisions that deliver long-term value for Scotland’s built environment.”
