Construction firms ‘named and shamed’ for not paying minimum wage

moneyThree Scottish construction and engineering firms have been named and shamed in a UK government list for not paying the minimum wage to workers.

K Construction (Scotland) Ltd, Newlay Civil Engineering Ltd and Ryce Limited were among a total of 21 Scots companies highlighted in the figures published by Westminster with 198 firms across the UK publicly named.

Currently, the National Minimum Wage for those aged 21 or older is £6.70 per hour and the living wage for over 25s is set at £7.20 per hour.

According to the figures, Edinburgh based K Construction owed £1,916.61 to two workers, while Newlay Civil Engineering in Airdrie and Ryce in Fife owed £1,860.60 and £935.96 to one worker respectively.



Overall, the 198 companies named across the UK owed £466,219 in arrears. All of the money owed to the workers has been paid back to them.
