Supported by sponsors, Kinetic Demolition the day proved a smash all round with the golfers taking on the challenge of dismantling the course, something the demolition firm are experts in. Industry partners Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Housing News and the Scottish Property Federation have all supported the day to help make it a success.

Teams of four take part in the event including a team from Scottish Construction Now joined by fellow golfers from the sector.

Held at MacDonald Cardrona Hotel and golf resort and conditions on the course were changeable with the lovely borders weather. With all four seasons in one day it was appropriate that four teams would qualify.

The format of Business Fours sees teams split up into different groups of players to allow for networking opportunities on the day, as well as some good quality golf. As golfers from companies across the sector including CBC Construction, City Building Engineering Services, Stewart Milne Homes, J & E Shepherd, Careys, Scottish Water, Angus Housing Association, Wernick Hire, Malcolm Hollis, Advance Construction, MJ Lynas, Hart Builders and ABL Business Finance attempted to join the 12 teams who qualified already for the final.

As like Business Fives, Business Fours also raises money for charity - with a donation going to the winners’ good cause.

The winning team score came from one of the Advance Construction entrants, captained by Tom Crumlish and helped by the fine scoring of John Dougherty as well as Jim Nelson and Jason Main who all shot scores in the 30s.

Also securing qualification for the National final at St Andrews Fairmont on the 30th of May were teams from Shepherd Surveyors and Malcolm Hollis who are both playing in support of the RICS Scotland Pledge 150 campaign for LandAid.

They were joined by the team from Careys who finished as runners up and will go on to play for the Carey Foundation.

In the individual awards Kevin Sargent from Careys hit his 7 iron Nearest the Pin on hole 5 while Craig Brown from J & E Shepherd hit it closest on the 13th green.

Rory Cullens from Malcolm Hollis knocked it passed his colleague, Gerry McGuigan to claim the bragging rights and the prize for longest drive on the picturesque 10th hole.

In the last of the individual awards Gordon Newlands from Stewart Milne Homes holed the longest putt on the 18th Green to finish off his round in style.

The charity raffle was well supported and raised £395 on the day which will go into the charity pot along with Business Fours 10% donation, which will be scooped up by the winning companies chosen charity at the finals day.

The draw will also be made at the final for the stellar prizes the Scottish Open have donated which include a fourball at Gullane the day after the Scottish Open with the Sunday pin positions and grand stands still intact, which is the unique opportunity to play Gullane 1 and Gullane 2 like the pros.

The four teams will go on to join qualifiers from Clydesdale Bank, Begbies Traynor, Insider.co.uk, Graham Pest Control, Village Hotels, Shepherd surveyors, Oceaneering, Exceed, Riddle & Coghill, Edinburgh Airport, Anderson Strathern and Turcan Connell in the national final to play for a bumper donation for their chosen charity.
