Details: Creed bridge was built on a river crossing on an unclassified section of the Pentland Moor Road.
The existing bridge deck consists of 4 No steel beams spanning a distance of 6.25m simply supported on masonry abutments. There is a very slight skew on the span which can be absorbed by the deck construction. Total deck width is 4.4m wide comprising 3.3m road and 0.4-0.5m undefined verges. The existing parapet is sub-standard post and rail with end pillars. Deck consists of a 150mm concrete slab on jack arches spanning transverse to the longitudinal span. Existing deck is friable and steel rebar is exposed.
The existing deck has large areas to the underside exhibiting spalling and exposed reinforcement. The type of concrete used for the deck is marine sourced aggregate and is made up of 20-30mm rounded stone with isolated small stones.
