Construction Scotland Innovation Centre launches open call for ‘innovation champions’
The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) is seeking talented trailblazers to lead an “innovation revolution” in Scotland’s construction sector.
CSIC hopes to attract talented individuals from across industry, academia and the public sector to form an expert group of thought leaders which will be used to ‘crowdsource’ the very best ideas to guide CSIC’s future funding and programme priorities.
Those with relevant expertise will also be asked to review project applications submitted to CSIC, ensuring the centre’s funding delivers maximum social, environmental and economic impact.
CSIC is seeking innovation champions from across a range of construction related backgrounds including clients, consultants, manufacturers, contractors and supply chain partners, both large and small. In addition, CSIC also wants to bring in expertise from other industries by involving innovators, disruptors and entrepreneurs with limited or no background in construction, but who have a passion for the built environment and believe they can help drive change.
The innovation champion posts are voluntary, and by using online digital tools and collaboration platforms, champions can be based anywhere in the world - although they will be given the opportunity to attend meet-up events throughout the year at CSIC’s new Innovation Factory outside Glasgow.
In addition to the innovation champions, CSIC is also seeking three new full members and three new intern members for its Governance Board.
The full board members will be recognised leaders in their field with a passion for innovation and a commitment to providing strategic guidance and direction to CSIC.
Intern positions are newly-created roles open to those who are equally passionate about innovation, but may be at earlier stages in their careers.
John Forster, CSIC board chair, said: “Central to CSIC’s mission is the belief that people drive innovation, so attracting a diverse, talented and ambitious group of change makers from a broad range of backgrounds is key to building a dynamic, opportunity focused, digitally savvy construction industry fit for the 21st century. If you want to be part of an innovation revolution in construction, please come and get involved in CSIC’s network of innovation champions or our Governance Board.”
The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre is one of eight industry led and demand driven Innovation Centres supported by Scottish Funding Council, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and 13 Scottish university partners.
