Consultancy practice expands engineering team
Glasgow-based multi-disciplined consultancy practice NIXON has expanded its growth plans with launch of an in-house civil and structural engineering team.
The consultancy practice began in 2012 as Nixon Consultants, and has rapidly expanded its operation as a quantity surveying and project management practice to a full development and construction company bringing architectural services and civil and structural engineering under its control.
The company works across a variety of sectors including hotel and leisure, hospitality, retail, student accommodation and residential. NIXON has more than tripled its workforce in recent years to 20 and moved to new offices in Hydepark Street in Glasgow, with an additional office in Manchester.
The engineering team will be led by director Craig Kempsell and is joined by David D’Arcy and James Hunter, who come to NIXON from some of the largest engineering consultancies in the central belt.
The team is overseeing the build of 32 contemporary residential apartments at Old Sneddon Street, Paisley; 64 apartments at St. Mungo’s Street, Bishopbriggs; the redevelopment of a new BOHO Hotel in Dundee, and a new residential built of 27 apartments planned for Finlay Drive, Dennistoun.
Most recently, the company has also secured contracts in England and will be leading in the renovation of St Johns Hotel in Solihull.
NIXON is predicting an increase in turnover with founder and managing director Richard McFadzean confident the engineering and architectural departments will be welcomed by new and long-term clients and further boost the company’s reputation as a multi-disciplined consultancy with experts in all disciplines.
He said: “NIXON has expanded its operation to meet the demand we are seeing. Our engineering team can maximise efficiencies for our clients by managing projects from the initial design through to completion and prevent clients from experiencing delays caused by value engineering.
“We’ve had a successful few years, however, we do not want to rest on our laurels and we will continue to diversify to meet our clients’ needs and to adapt to a constantly changing market. The engineering team is another division to add to our growing portfolio at NIXON.”
NIXON is also leading as employer’s agent, project managers and principal designers on a £40 million project at Scotway House for Glasgow-based developer Structured House Group. The flagship development will open in 2019.
