The Scottish Government has opened a consultation on draft regulations and guidance for local development plans (LDPs).

The regulations and guidance are part of wider work on planning reform and implementation of the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 (the 2019 Act). Significant changes to development planning are being made by the 2019 Act.  The LDPs consultation paper is in the following parts:

The planning reform programme, including provisions of the 2019 Act, has sought to strengthen and simplify LDPs. The government said its objective is for a new approach to preparing plans that will result in new style plans that support the management and use of land in the long term public interest.



Responses can be made via the Scottish Government consultation hub or directly to LDPRegsandGuidance@gov.scot.

The closing date for responses is March 31.
