Consultation responses published for draft revised Code of Conduct for registered property factors
The analysis of responses to a consultation on a revised the Code of Conduct for registered property factors has been published by the Scottish Government.
A draft revised Code was published as part of a public consultation which took place between 6 October 2017 and 15 January 2018. The current Code has been in place since the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011 came into force in October 2012.
The consultation also sought views on whether the original Code has led to improvements in the quality of factoring services to homeowners and whether the 2011 Act has improved the wider regulation of property factors.
The analysis of responses to the consultation and other accompanying documents are published on the Scottish Government Citizen Space website.
The Scottish Government said: “The responses to the consultation provided a range of contrasting perspectives on what the Code should deliver and what requirements should be included. The majority of suggested amendments were of a detailed and technical nature.
“The Scottish Government is currently considering representations made about the draft revised Code as a result of that consultation. The findings will be used alongside other available evidence to inform our consideration of whether the respective changes to the Code are to be taken forward and whether changes to the wider regime regulating property factors should be explored.”
