A significant contract win and six new appointments have marked a productive first quarter in Scotland for global professional services consultancy WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.

The consultancy has been successful in its bid to secure a place on the renewal Scotland Excel Framework - the Centre of Procurement Expertise for local government.

The contract, which is effective from March, has the potential to bring in around £3 million of work for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in Scotland across its development, environmental, project and commercial services, highways and civil, bridge and ground disciplines.

Bruce Donaldson, framework director at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, said: “This is a great win for our Scottish business with an estimated fee value of £3 million and significant potential for downstream work.

“Our winning team offered the combined strength of both WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff and Mouchel, all bringing new experiences, perspectives and knowledge of the many different disciplines we currently work across. The tender award is definitely a success story for the integration of these two businesses.

“Being part of the framework also means we have a chance to give back, supporting communities across Scotland by providing 30 volunteering days for our staff to work on community projects and engaging young people through our apprenticeship programme.”

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has also appointed six new staff to work across the company’s sectors, all of whom will be central to the work won through the new contract.

Julia Gilles, who was previously with global engineering company CH2M, and project director for Transport Scotland’s development planning & management advisor, joins WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff as a director in the company’s development team.

Julia said of her appointment: “I’m really excited to join a company which has such a strong reputation and has a clear growth strategy.

“It’s been a great start to 2017 for WSP| Parsons Brinckerhoff and I look forward to playing my part in the developing the business both in Scotland and more widely in the UK.”

Also joining the company’s Glasgow office in the environmental team is senior consultant Alex Wood and consultant Alyissa Glen.

In Edinburgh, Anna Buczkowska joins WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s building services team as a senior engineer whilst Craig Smith joins development as principal technician, and Paul Young as an associate.
