Councillors agreed to sell the plots close to the Tradeston pedestrian/cycle bridge to Drum Property Group for over £1.3 million

As well as the new homes, the regeneration scheme will provide over 900,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, with enough work space provided for 7,000 employees.

Overall, Drum will take ownership of a cleared site of 0.42 acres, adjacent to the pedestrian/cycle bridge; a site of 0.03 acres, forming part of the public footpath and road; and a Social Work Assessment Centre of 0.258 acres, which will be relocated to Rodney Street in the city.

Councillor Kenny McLean, city convener for neighbourhoods, housing and public realm, said: “The disposal of these plots will enable a development bringing a huge amount of Grade A office space, new homes and new jobs to the city centre, as well as a contribution to the public purse. This project will mark a new chapter in the regeneration of both Tradeston and the waterfront.”

Work is expected to begin later this year, with completion in three years.
