Councillors approve £3.5m plan to convert Dundee mill into flats, nursery and business units
Proposals for a £3.5 million renovation of one of Dundee’s historic jute mills have been approved by councillors.
The Eagle Mill on Victoria Street will be converted into 34 residential apartments, a nursery school, bakery and coffee shop and a new fabrication unit to house a long-term industrial tenant.
The plan is being progressed by Eagle Mill Capital Limited, which has owned the majority of the site since 2009, although one section remains in the hands of a third party.
Local practice James Paul Associates has designed the plans, which will see the derelict mill modernised through the formation of a new link vennel from Brown Constable Street to a new garden following demolition of a northern section of the site while restoring key elements such as the Victoria Street façade.
Work is expected to begin in around nine months and take two years, the Dundee Evening Telegraph reports.
