Cranhill flats bid returns with revised designs
A further attempt is being made to develop a block of flats for Thenue Housing Association in Cranhill.
About this development:
- Authority:Glasgow City
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:Allison Architects (architect), SIM Building Group (developer)
SIM Building Group has applied to build 12 two-bedroom apartments in a four-storey block on the site of a former social work base at Ruchazie Place.
A previous proposal for 12 flats was refused in March 2022 after councillors described the scale, massing, fenestration detail and materials as being “of poor quality”.
An appeal against the refusal of planning permission was turned down in April last year.
Returning to the drawing board, Allison Architects hopes to address the concerns by replacing composite cladding boards with brick.
The practice said: “The proposed development does not try to mimic any one particular style and instead endeavours to provide a high-quality design that uses locally sourced materials and finishes that are sympathetic to the surrounding properties and compliment them while providing good quality homes that meet the current standards in terms of accommodation, natural daylight and space.”
The former council facility at the site has been vacant for some years and would be demolished under the plans.
