The contract will see 77 new affordable houses and flats being built at Abercromby Street, Calton, with work expected to start on site next month.

The development, which is due to complete in 2021, will contain a combination of modern and energy-efficient houses and flats, all designed to meet local housing needs.

Allan Callaghan, managing director for Cruden Building, part of the Cruden Group, said: “Over the past decade, we have completed several award-winning developments for Thenue Housing and we are delighted to continue our strong working relationship as we begin work on this exciting new development.

“Together with making a positive impact to the lives of Thenue’s tenants, we will support the residents of Calton and the surrounding communities by providing a range of community benefits including valuable jobs and training opportunities.”

Thenue Housing chief executive, Charles Turner, added: “This is yet another example of us delivering on our promise to create much-needed new homes for the communities we serve.

“We look forward to working with Cruden Building as we have done before on delivering affordable housing together with a range of community benefits. Together, we will make a real difference to people’s lives.”
