Cunninghame Housing Association holds development closing ceremony
Cunninghame Housing Association has celebrated the completion of its latest new build housing development at Garven Road in Stevenston with an official closing ceremony.
The event marked the successful delivery of much-needed, high-quality, affordable homes for rent.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Association’s board of management and staff, the main contractor Ashleigh and the design team, as well as partner organisations.
Councillor John Sweeney, North Ayrshire Council depute provost, was also in attendance and presented new tenants with the keys to their new home.
Linda Anderson, interim CEO at Cunninghame, said: “The Association is committed to delivering high quality homes for rent and we are delighted that our new build development at Garven Road is now fully complete.
“These 20 new homes for rent have all been allocated from the North Ayrshire Common Housing Register and have been built with the support of our strategic partners, North Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Government, who awarded £3.2m in Scottish Government Grant funding towards this project.
“The development has transformed a once vacant site in this part of Stevenston and has made a positive impact on the local environment, as we continually strive to make our communities better places.”
Completion was officially marked by Councillor John Sweeney, who spoke about the importance of affordable, high-quality housing in strengthening the community and providing secure foundations for families.
Janet Strang, chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association, officially welcomed some of the new tenants with bouquets of flowers.
Janet said: “We look forward to seeing the positive impact these homes will have on the lives of their new residents on Garven Road. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project to life!”
