Dandara Living adds topping to charity pizza initiative

Glasgow charity the Clutha Trust is set to double the number of free pizzas it serves up at local foodbanks and charities thanks to funding from build to rent property developer Dandara Living.

The charity is aiming to donate over 3,000 fresh hand-made pizzas during January, February and March to support local foodbanks, charities and organisations.

The initiative began during the pandemic when business dried up for the Clutha Bar & Restaurant, where the Trust is based, and the chefs were keen to do something constructive with their time. Owner and founder of the Clutha Trust, Alan Crossan recognised that everyone loves a pizza and the need to provide hot meals locally and the initiative began.



Zoe Sharpe, senior development manager, Dandara Living, said: “The Clutha Bar’s pizzas are a firm favourite and it’s another great example of the good work the Trust is carrying out in the community. We’re delighted to lend our support.”

Alan Crossan, founder of the Clutha Trust and owner of the Clutha Bar, added: “January and February are tough months and our pizzas add a bit of cheer and comfort. Charities contact us to book the number of boxed pizzas they require and then pick up when they are ready. We’re grateful to Dandara Living for their generosity and hopefully we can reach the 3,000 mark by the end of March.”

Dandara Living specialises in developing and operating Build to Rent apartment buildings. Its Granary Quay development at Glasgow Harbour will provide 391 new homes and the company also has a further development proposed at Anderston Quay in Glasgow. Subject to planning, City Wharf will feature nearly 500 one, two and three-bedroom homes for rent and 490 student apartments alongside units for commercial use.

Associated high quality amenities, located on the ground and first floors, will include a cycle hub, large open plan gym, residents lounge, and co-working spaces with views onto the River Clyde.



Central to the site’s design is the creation of a new urban park for use by residents and the local community.
