Dandara puts best foot forward for charity walkers
Dandara is giving a boost to people taking part in the Midlothian Walk of Hope which is aiming to raise funds for charity Chris’s House.
The housebuilder is donating £250 worth of energy bars to those taking part in the event to support the Centre for Help, Response & Intervention Surrounding Suicide, a 24-hour non-medical crisis centre in Dalkeith.
The 5km walk starts at 4.15am on Saturday, 7th May at Shawfair Park and Ride and aims to raise awareness of the work of Chris’s House and to remember loved ones lost through suicide.
Anne Rowan, founder of Chris’s House, said: “The walk begins early while the sky is still dark and finishes as dawn breaks to remind people that no matter what, there is always hope.
“We are so grateful to Dandara and our other sponsors for supporting this very important initiative.”
Lisa Archibald, head of sales for Dandara East Scotland, which has a development of new homes at Shawfair, said: “The Walk of Hope is such a great idea, and I am sure will be very well attended by local people including some of our new homeowners. The walk will raise valuable funds for the charity, which does so much good work helping those who are suffering from mental ill-health and their families.
“With such an early start I am sure the energy bars will be very welcome when they are handed out!”
Chris’s House was founded by Wishaw mum Anne Rowan who lost her son Chris to suicide in 2011 at the age of 36. The Dalkeith Centre is the second branch of the charity and offers a wide range of therapy and counselling services. For further information go to: www.chrishouse.org
