Dandara sponsors Run Garioch fundraiser
This year marks Dandara Aberdeen’s twelfth year sponsoring an annual 10K hosted by an Aberdeenshire sports and community centre.
The race is part of Run Garioch, a yearly running festival and major fundraiser for Inverurie’s Garioch Sports Centre.
The 2024 Dandara 10K was held on Sunday, 12th May, along with a 5K, half-marathon and several children’s runs. A lively event village was also set up on the day, complete with food stands, displays and entertainment from local community and sports groups.
Dandara Aberdeen has sponsored the 10K since it became available in 2014; before that, the company sponsored the event’s 5K when it launched in 2013. A fixture of the Inverurie community since 2005, the festival has grown from a 400-finisher 10K to a major community event drawing thousands of runners, spectators and volunteers each year.
Welcoming runners of all abilities and skill levels, the race provides a challenging but rewarding course through the streets of Inverurie, starting and finishing at the Garioch Sports Centre.
Dandara Aberdeen was once again involved in selecting the winning artwork that was featured on the event programme’s front cover, something they have enjoyed being part of since its inception three years ago. Out of nearly 120 entries, a piece by Isla Barclay, a third-year student from Inverurie Academy, was chosen as the winner.
Claire Bathgate, head of sales at Dandara Aberdeen, commented: “It’s an honour to be part of such a vital and thriving community event that brings together thousands of people each year. We are thrilled to partner with an organisation whose vision aligns with our commitment to sustainability and building healthy communities.”
