Dandara spreads seasonal cheers at Kirkliston Primary School
Santa arrived early at Kirkliston Primary School this year with a special gift for the annual Christmas Fair from housebuilder Dandara East Scotland.
The housebuilder donated £500 to buy an iPad, which was the star prize in the raffle at the event held on the 2nd of December. The money will also be used to provide games and activities for the children.
The popular fair is the biggest fundraiser of the year for school which is Edinburgh’s largest primary with over 630 pupils. The event included a tombola, festive games, elves’ crafty workshop, market stalls and refreshments.
Louise Collingwood of Kirkliston Primary School’s parent council, who organises the fair, said: “We are so grateful to Dandara for their generous donation, the raffle is our biggest money generator and the highlight of the fundraising calendar. It’s vitally important that we are able to provide the school with valuable additional resources for the children and support in areas where funding is needed to help our families such as the cost of school trips, the breakfast club and clothing bank. Money is tight for so many people as a result of the cost of living crisis and we want to ensure no child misses out on activities due to financial limitations.”
Tony Williamson, sales director Dandara East Scotland, said: “We are building nearby at Foxhall Gait and lots of our residents have children at the school, so we wanted to do our bit to support the community in Kirkliston.
“The parent council do a terrific job organising these fundraising events and they are to be congratulated for giving up so much of their own time to help the teachers and support staff to create a great and inclusive learning environment for the pupils.”
Dandara also recently lent its support to Kirkliston South Queensferry Football Club, sponsoring a new kit for the 2019s team.
