Originally from Paisley, Mr Mathieson previously held the position of senior quantity surveyor at Arc-Tech Scotland for nearly five years.

Castle Building Services operates across the UK and David will focus his activities around the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. His appointment follows the announcement of a number of new starters in recent months, in varying positions across the business.

The increase in headcount follows the company’s appointment to major schemes, including its role as principal contractor for the state-of-the-art PragmatIC Park electronics facility in Durham.

It has an impressive portfolio of education-based projects across Scotland, including the £60 million Winchburgh Academy, which features four buildings, developed on a 13-hectare site providing facilities for 4,000 students. The company is working closely with Morrison Construction on behalf of West Lothian Council.

Morrison Construction has also appointed Castle Building Services onto the £14m new build campus for West Lothian’s Beatlie School, which will provide education for pupils aged between 3 and 18 years of age with severe and complex educational needs and profound medical needs.

The company is also working with Kier Construction on behalf of East Ayrshire Council on the new build of Netherthird Primary School, Cumnock, which will have the capacity to accommodate 278 pupils.

With its headquarters in Hebburn, South Tyneside, Castle has 134 staff and operatives, offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Teesside and Leeds and last year recorded £30m turnover.
