David Narro Associates makes three promotions on International Women in Engineering Day
Three women members of the team at David Narro Associates have been promoted to associates following a recent round of annual reviews.
With a cumulative experience of over thirty years, Lily Erskine, Yvonne McKean and Anna Naughton are section leaders, heading up teams of more junior engineering staff.
It’s particularly fitting that this announcement is made on International Women in Engineering Day 2022.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, Yvonne said: “We’re really pleased to have received these promotions. As women in engineering, we’ve often experienced being the only female in the room, and we’re all committed to promoting careers in STEM through our outreach and mentoring programs. It’s fantastic to work for an organisation as supportive as David Narro Associates. The Practice really celebrates and encourages diversity. All three of us are working mothers, and myself and Anna actually job share, something that was easily facilitated by the business.”
Ben Adam, David Narro Associates’ managing director, added. “These promotions are well deserved and earned. Lily, Yvonne and Anna are key senior members of the engineering team. I’m delighted that we’re in the position of having these fantastic women engineers in the Practice, and encouraging more under-represented groups to pursue engineering and science careers is something I’m personally passionate about as a STEM Ambassador. The diversity of our team is a huge asset and something we’re really proud of.”
Industry figures from June 2021 show that just 16.5% of engineers are women. David Narro Associates is currently above that, with women making up 21% of the engineers and technicians. Continuing to improve on this will be a key focus of the Practice’s recently established Diversity & Opportunity Group. The Practice also recently achieved the Investors In People Gold award for another year, demonstrating the commitment to the ongoing development and wellbeing of the entire team.
