#DesignPopUP to host mental health and wellbeing event for Edinburgh's property sector

#DesignPopUp, specialist in events for the building sector, has launched a new event for Edinburgh, focusing on mental health and wellbeing within the property sector.

The all-day event, to be held on 3 October at Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, follows on from a very successful and emotive Glasgow panel event, which looked at how we support mental health within the property industry.

Entitled ‘Architecture for Wellbeing vs Wellbeing in Architecture’, the event will examine how design and architecture contribute to enhancing wellbeing in society; and equally, how designers and architects can safeguard their own mental health in a sector with high pressure and unrelenting deadlines.

With a full day of workshops, seminars, panel discussions and presentations, speakers representing the full spectrum of the property sector will cover subjects including mental health training, the health benefits of lighting, menopause and inclusivity. There will also be product demonstrations and showcases. A full list of speakers can be found here:

Sara Seravalli, founder of #DesignPopUp, said: “Our Glasgow event, which focused on mental health within the property sector, was very well attended and resulted in an incredibly emotive, challenging and raw debate, which desperately needs to happen if we are to develop better ways of supporting the mental health of people working in this sector.

“We wanted to generate the same productive and necessary conversation in Edinburgh and have expanded the format by designing a full day of conversation, workshops and seminars. It is vital that we continue not only to have the conversation about mental health but to put in place real and tangible strategies and safeguards to protect people’s wellbeing, and the aim of our events is to debate and design ways to do this.”

The event will be held on 3 October at Central Hall, West Tollcross, Edinburgh, EH3 9BP.
