Designs approved for golf development centre at Belleisle Golf Course

The initial design concepts for the proposed Golf Development Centre at Belleisle Golf Course were approved by South Ayrshire Council this week.

Enhancing the current practice facilities with a new covered facility will provide an opportunity to engage the next generation of golfers through formal and informal coaching programmes, as well as serving the needs of current golfers to fine tune their golf skills.

The designs have been developed by Pangaea Golf Architecture, in association with Paul Lawrie, to complement the £5 million investment in the region’s golf courses.

Improvements to the practice facilities will also allow for high-profile events to be held at Belleisle, further enhancing the great reputation the course has within the golfing community.

The proposed facility includes two dedicated detaching bays and ten individual open bays.

Public engagement sessions will be scheduled to allow the public to view the concept designs in more detail and provide feedback. We’ll let you know when more information about this is available.

Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for sport and leisure, said: “I’m delighted that the initial design concepts are now ready to be shared. The new covered facility will provide much needed dedicated practice areas for year-round use, as well as a fantastic base for teaching and coaching activities. This will appeal to all levels of player from novice beginners to experienced golfers.

“We’re committed to providing golfers with a year-round playing experience that is better than any comparable course in the area, and I hope this will encourage more young people to take part in the sport. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in golf to have their say in the public engagement sessions.”
