Donaldson Group joins Tech for Good Alliance
Timber expert Donaldson Group has joined the Tech for Good Alliance as it continues to innovate and deliver positive change for third sector organisations.
Launched by the not-for-profit organisation Scottish Tech Army, the Tech for Good Alliance enables businesses to harness technology to improve inclusion, equity and sustainability while developing tech skills. As part of the alliance, the Donaldson Group will provide support for third sector organisations through skilled volunteering, access to their technology, and financial support to drive positive change.
Harnessing the tech skills of volunteers, its first project with Fife Young Carers will improve the charity’s reach and impact.
Partnering with Fife Young Carers, a charity that supports local children and young people who care for family members who are ill or have a disability, skilled volunteers will develop a new website and deliver valuable marketing support. The project will enable Fife Young Carers to better serve the people and communities which they work with. The project forms part of the Donaldson Group’s commitment to creating a positive, responsible future for its people, partners, and communities.
Graham Johnston, CEO of the Donaldson Group’s Retail & Distribution division, said: “The group wants to always do good and by joining the Tech for Good Alliance, we can give back and create a positive impact for the communities we serve. At the same time, our colleagues and the rest of the business can gain new skills and learn from working with different organisations and technologies.
“We continue to lead the industry by embracing innovation and growing our tech function across IT and e-commerce. We look forward to using our unique skills to support Fife Young Carers as well as other third sector organisations and local communities.”
Alistair Forbes, founding director and CEO at Scottish Tech Army, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Donaldson Group as a member of the Tech for Good Alliance - the company is a great example of a forward-thinking and innovative manufacturing and distribution business. The company’s e-commerce marketplace has been widely recognised as a market-leading platform and it is great to see this innovative mindset extending into the use of the skills of its team to drive social benefit, helping to bring to life its vision of creating a positive, responsible future for its people, partners and communities.”
As a volunteer for the Scottish Tech Army, Graham Johnston is hosting the 2024 Tech for Good Summit which takes place on 25 April.
