The firm has been tasked by household name UK building contractors to provide professional services for schemes in Central Scotland with values of up to £200 million, which are adding close to 2,000 new homes to the housing stock.

The contracts have significantly boosted DBA’s share in the residential market, but it has also been winning high-profile work in transportation infrastructure projects, particularly complex motorway and road projects.

DBA’s managing director Fergus Adams said that ongoing work inflows had increased turnover by 10% to £3.3m in the financial year to April.

He said: “The firm has outperformed in attracting significant new business and is well placed to continue on an upward curve as its reputation for professional delivery becomes increasingly recognised at the highest levels of the UK construction sector.”

Recent project wins include:

• A residential development worth close to £200m in the grounds of the former Dykebar Hospital in Paisley in which Barratt, Bellway and CALA are proposing to build over 600 new homes. DBA is providing transportation assessment, civil and structural engineering, earthworks analysis, drainage design and modelling, flood risk assessment, infrastructure design and full structural design for homes.
• A development at Torrance Park in Holytown, Lanarkshire, worth £150m in which Taylor Wimpey and Barratt are building over 600 homes. Similar services, excluding flood risk assessment, are being provided.
• A spine road and residential development design at Carnbroe in Lanarkshire in a project worth £112m in which 450 new homes are being provided. The phase is currently being progressed by Barratt Homes.

DBA has also won substantial work from CALA Homes for design process in Kirkintilloch where it is currently on-site in a 150-home development in the former Broomhill Hospital project.

While residential homes work now comprises some 75% of the DBA portfolio, the firm has also marked up a number of significant scores in transport infrastructure, such as its involvement in the recently-opened £14.1m M8/A8 interchange at Bishopton in Renfrewshire in consultation with Renfrewshire Council, SEPA, Transport Scotland and BAA.

The firm also has an impressive portfolio of strategic transportation and infrastructure projects at Ineos, Grangemouth; Braehead and Silverburn shopping centres in Glasgow, Metrocentre in Gateshead and the Union Square development in Aberdeen.
