Apprentices in trades from electrical to painting have recently started with the council and gathered this week at the Construction Services Clepington Road HQ.

Mark Flynn convener of the council’s neighbourhood regeneration, housing and estate management committee was on hand to greet the new recruits.

He said: “Young people are the lifeblood of the council and vital to allowing us to continue to deliver the high-quality services that the people of Dundee expect in repairs and maintenance of public assets.”

Lynne Short, the committee’s deputy convener was also at the event, added: “As a major employer in the city with a constant need for new talent it is great to see 11 young people getting their first step on the career ladder all gathered in one place.”

This year’s apprentice in take includes an electrician, a joiner, plumber, roofer, scaffolder, plasterer, groundworker, two slaters and a pair of painters.
