Dundee Council considers 37-home development at former Gowriehill Primary School site
Angus Housing Association has submitted plans to build 37 affordable homes on the site of the former Gowriehill Primary School in Dundee.
The development aims to attract a diverse mix of residents and regenerate the vacant site.
The design statement by Wellwood Leslie Architects stated: “This planning application seeks approval for two-bedroom and three-bedroom semidetached houses and two-bedroom flats and ground floor wheelchair flats.
“Designed to meet affordable housing requirements, they will cater to a diverse range of residents including young professionals, families, and seniors, promoting a vibrant and inclusive community.
“The aspiration of the development is to positively regenerate this dormant site in a premium location into a defined, high quality residential community, creating a neighborhood that blends with the existing architectural fabric of the area and contributes positively to the local community. Each property will have allocated parking, and infrastructure for electric car charging will be provided.”
The statement also details that all of the “houses will be powered of electricity for all heating and cooling”, allowing for renewable energy sources to be used for all energy consumption.
Dundee City Council is expected to make a decision on the plans in the coming weeks.
