Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT), the official charity of Dundee United Football Club, is celebrating a £5,000 donation from Persimmon North Scotland.

The funds will support the Trust’s Football Memories initiative, a programme dedicated to helping adults living with dementia reconnect with the history of Dundee United FC.

Since its establishment in 2017, DUCT has invested nearly £2 million in community initiatives, striving to create an environment where individuals can realise their full potential. Working closely with Dundee United Football Club, the Trust engages people of all ages through programs that promote physical and mental well-being, social inclusion, and personal growth.

The cheque presentation took place at Dundee United’s Tannadice Park, with Dundee City Council leader, Cllr Mark Flynn, joining to mark the occasion.

Cllr Flynn said: I welcome the contribution by Persimmon in supporting community groups through their Community Champions initiative, and I’m delighted to see them donate on this occasion to the Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT) for their Football Memories initiative, recognising the great work they do within the community.”

Derek Gardiner, Persimmon North Scotland commercial director, said: “We’re thrilled to support Dundee United Community Trust and their outstanding work.

“DUCT has made a significant impact in Dundee, not only in promoting physical health but also in building stronger, more connected communities. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a positive cause.”

Jamie Kirk, Dundee United Community Trust CEO, said: “We’re so grateful to Persimmon for this support, it will make a massive difference. Across 40+ sessions each week we work to improve the lives of people in Dundee in the areas of Sport for All, Healthy Lifestyles and Lifelong Learning.

“It’s no secret that Charities like ours are finding it harder all the time to raise enough funds to maintain and develop services, and this generous support will go a long way to helping thousands of local people in the year ahead.”

This donation is part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which has contributed over £360,000 to charities and local causes across Scotland in the past five years.
