Dunfermline housing approved subject to £365,000 developer payments
Lochay Homes Ltd, the developer behind a Dunfermline housing project, has been informed that it must pay £365,000 to help address school capacity issues.
The developer has obtained permission to build 59 new homes north of Kent Street, near Townhill, but with an agreement that they pay the sum to help aid schooling and transportation.
Almost £290,000 will be spent on easing overcrowding at local secondary schools and £65,854 will go towards a solution at Townhill Primary, with a further £10,300 going to St Margaret’s RC Primary.
Lochay Homes Ltd must also pay £229,276 to support transportation improvements, including an upgrade of junctions and installation of traffic calming measures at the site, The Courier reports.
Fife Council previously approved a larger 92-home development, but developers altered their plans and these were approved this week.
Out of the 59 homes to be built, 15 will be affordable housing, with the development being constructed over three years.
The homes will comprise of two, three and four-bedroom bungalows and two-storey villas.
