Edinburgh Architectural Association unveils 2019 awards shortlist
A restored City Observatory, the first Scotch Whisky Distillery to operate in the Borders since 1837 and a data driven innovation hub are just some of the diverse projects shortlisted by the Edinburgh Architectural Association (EAA) for its 2019 awards.
In total the EAA Awards for Architecture 2019 received 46 submissions across five categories resulting in a shortlist of 19 individual projects.
All projects are designed by registered architects and built within the chapter area, with exception to the Ambassador Award which is built out with the chapter. All shortlisted Projects will be eligible for the coveted Building of the Year Award sponsored by Taylor Maxwell.

Recently elected EAA vice president Nicholas Taggart of 7N Architects will chair the judging panel joined by head of school at the Mackintosh School of Architecture Prof. Sally Stewart, EAA council member and director at 3DReid Alastair Cook, and project officer at the Port of Leith Housing Association Kate Duckham.
The judging panel will visit each of the shortlisted projects before announcing the results at a drinks reception at St Cecilia’s Hall – winner of the 2018 Regeneration & Conservation Award - on May 22. Tickets for this free event are available through Eventbrite.
