Eildon completes new Galashiels development
Eildon Housing Association hosted an Open Afternoon event on Friday 14 April 2023 to showcase its latest major affordable housing development on the former Coopersknowe site in Galashiels.
Now called McQueen Gardens, the development saw Eildon work with Cruden Building to complete 69 brand new, high quality, sustainable and affordable homes on this long derelict site.
The development comprises a mix of family houses, bungalows and upper and lower colony-style flats. Six of the bungalows already let are fully wheelchair accessible.
Eildon’s chief executive Nile Istephan said that as well as regenerating this site and creating jobs and income for the Borders economy, this development helps to address the acute housing need in the region.
He added: “We are absolutely delighted to open our doors and host this event to showcase the high quality of this new development situated in such a great location. Building energy efficient new homes like the ones at McQueen Gardens, brings a huge boost to the local area, and is part of our strategy to invest £137 million in new homes for the Borders economy between now and 2027.”
