Ellengowan regeneration project scoops design award

Hillcrest’s Ellengowan regeneration project has been lauded with a silver award in the Affordable Housing category at the Scottish Design Awards 2024.

The award levelled praise at the first phase of the regeneration of Dundee’s Ellengowan Drive, which was completed early last year.

The development faced stiff competition from stand-out projects across Scotland, with judges praising aspects of Ellengowan such as its open-space planning, augmentation of the natural landscape and its eye-catching building form and fabric.

Angela Linton, Hillcrest chief executive, said: “After the many years of hard work on Ellengowan’s regeneration, we’re delighted to receive such fantastic recognition in the form of a Scottish Design Award.

“Throughout the regeneration project, we’ve been determined to retain the fantastic sense of community and iconic aesthetic of the area that the previous community enjoyed. With our tenants now residing there again and praising the area and awards like this, we’re delighted to have achieved this.”

The development was designed by Collective Architecture and delivered by Campion Homes.

The second phase of regeneration, which will see the bottom half of the area redeveloped is due to commence shortly and will deliver a further 70 homes.
