Employees achieve silver service at Marshall Construction
Alloa based Marshall Construction Ltd has recognised eight special employees, all of whom have recently celebrated at least twenty five years continuous service with the company.
The long serving staff, most of whom are from the Hillfoots area, cover a host of positions, from receptionist Lesley Harper, from Clackmannan, surveyor Stephen Patrick, from Dollar to Colin Paterson, project manager from Alva.
Danny Conroy is an estimator/surveyor from Muckhart who has been with Marshall Construction for twenty seven years. He trained as an apprentice quantity surveyor with James Gentles & Son and went on to work at Muirhead in Grangemouth and train as a specialist timber estimator with Robertson in Denny, where he became chief surveyor, before being head hunted to join Marshall Construction in 1987.
Danny, who enjoys rowing the Forth in his spare time with a club in Stirling, said: “Marshall Construction has been a great firm to work for. I have worked with other family firms in my career and feel that there is a real difference – you are not just a number and there is a close knit feeling. The construction industry has its ups and downs for sure but I am delighted that Marshall Construction has grown and progressed in the industry to its present healthy state and I wish it continued prosperity.”
Derek Clarke, commercial executive with the firm, has been with Marshall Construction for twenty six years and is originally from Kirkcaldy. Now living in Burntisland, he started his career with Fife Regional Council where he trained as an apprentice building technician at Hayfield in Kirkcaldy before joining Marshalls in 1988.
He said: “Marshall Construction has really enabled me to grow in my career as they put me through University to obtain a degree in Surveying, then a Masters in Business Administration too. I am very grateful to them for their support and have thoroughly enjoyed the variety of the projects I have been involved with over the years, including my current project, the new Marine Harvest factory at Rosyth in Fife. “
Making up the eight long serving staff are Willie Heads, assistant plant manager from Bridge of Allan; contracts surveyor Kenny Thomson, who lives in Tillicoultry and Inglis Douglas, general building manager, from Kinross.
Robert Marshall, managing director of Marshall Construction, presented all eight with a token of his appreciation and commented on their Silver Anniversary: “I am delighted to have retained such hard working and dedicated staff and applaud them on their unwavering loyalty and substantial contribution to the growth of our company. Marshall Construction is a family business and I have no doubt this is a contributory factor to the high level of long serving employees who have remained with us. I congratulate them on this achievement and look forward to their continued involvement.”
