Expanding Hardies opens three new UK offices
Hardies Property & Construction Consultants has embarked on an ambitious expansion strategy that will see it open three new offices across the UK this month.
The new offices in Belfast, Leeds, and London, which take its office network to 13 locations, form the first phase of a development strategy executed on the back of a series of major successful project wins across the UK and Ireland over recent years.
Senior partner, Danny McArthur, said: “We have recently required staff members to travel extensively throughout the UK to service a number of major projects – something that we have been able to manage successfully throughout the duration of the pandemic – and have now reached the stage where we are expanding our office infrastructure in order to capitalise on future opportunities and make our long-planned move south of the border.
“Given our current and anticipated volumes of work throughout the UK, now is the right time to grow our office network outwith Scotland as part of our expansion strategy as we seek to replicate the 109-year success the firm has enjoyed in Scotland across the UK.
“These new offices will mark the first phase of our growth strategy, which will encompass a number of acquisitions planned over the coming years as we seek to establish ourselves as the premier firm for all property and construction surveying disciplines.”
With experience in all sectors working on the smallest to the largest projects the country has to offer, Hardies’ core services include building surveying, quantity surveying, project management, principal designer/health & safety advisor, energy surveying and housing services.
Combined with sister firm, Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, with specialisms in residential valuation, commercial property management, agency, valuation and auction services, the two entities form a national practice unrivalled in its delivery network of surveying services throughout Scotland. Combined the firms now have 41 offices across the UK.
“Over the last few years our Building Surveying team has established an enviable reputation for carrying out Condition Surveys on a national scale for large portfolios across the UK and Ireland,” said Mr McArthur.
“Our expanded office network will increase our capabilities further and strengthen our service delivery throughout the country as we embark on an expansion plan and recruitment drive to populate these new offices.”
The expansion follows Hardies’ comprehensive operational restructure at the end of last year which heralded the appointment of Mr McArthur as senior partner and the appointment of three new partners.
“Our recent company restructure enables us to progress our expansion plans more swiftly,” said Mr McArthur.
“We have invested heavily in the business over the last five years, particularly in our IT infrastructure. We are now ready to start our journey as we look to repeat our success across the rest of the UK.”
Hardies’ UK expansion follows a year on from Shepherd Chartered Surveyors’ expansion into England with the launch of Shepherd Property Consultants, a venture incorporating the highly regarded companies of Bigwood Properties in Birmingham and SJ Higgins Property Consultants in London, where Hardies will now share an office.
