Expansion plan for Port Glasgow education facility

Inverclyde Council has applied for planning permission to expand an education facility in Port Glasgow.

Holmes Miller Architects has drawn up proposals for a single-storey extension to the current Rainbow Family Centre in Oronsay Avenue to cater for up to 64 pupils aged three to five.

In their design outline, the architects wrote: “The existing main entrance and the extension entrance are defined by the new public realm and the architecturally designed colonnade which stretch between the new proposal and the existing Rainbow Family Centre.

“The development of the shared urban realm creates a defined public space to be used by pupils, teaching staff and parents.”

The council hope to have the new accommodation up and running by the end of next year.
