Farmfoods submits plans for ‘most attractive’ supermarket in Aberdeen
Farmfoods has submitted plans to Aberdeen City Council seeking permission to build a new outlet off King Street, belelling the new branch as the chain’s “most modern and attractive” store in the city.
The construction of the store would mean that the 50-year-old former barracks at the 152 Don Street location could have to be knocked down.
Farmfoods estimates the new supermarket would create around 20 jobs.
The firm also intends to help customers save money on their food shop when the outlet is constructed, the Press and Journal reports.
Papers sent to Aberdeen local authority’s planning committee reads: “Farmfoods distribute leaflets with money-off vouchers. This is aimed at customers undertaking bulk food shopping trips rather than smaller basket-based shopping, and reflects the range of goods.”
The document added: “Farmfoods’ investment in a store at Don Street would be their most modern, accessible and attractive branch in Aberdeen.”
The council will make a decision on the application in due course.
