A building firm in Fife has collapsed resulting in the loss of 15 jobs.

Richmond Homes (Scotland) Limited, which was based at Laich House at Dunfermline’s Carnegie Campus, ceased trading after insolvency practitioners at French Duncan were called in to the business.

Papers lodged at Companies House show a liquidation action against the company was raised before Sheriff Charles Macnair at Dunfermline on February 2.

Brian Milne of French Duncan’s business recovery unit in Glasgow was named as provisional liquidator of the company.

Documents show the company was originally incorporated in May 2009 as Strathbyte Limited but changed its name to Richmond Homes (Scotland) Limited the following month.

In September, the company posted abbreviated accounts for the year to December 31 2015, showing total net liabilities of £1.88 million.

The document details a loan of £579,525 due in more than one year to sole director Calum Stewart and states the business is “therefore reliable upon the continued financial support of the director”.

There are no accounts available relating to the most recent trading year to Hogmanay.
