And finally… Chinese firm 3D prints villa and apartment block

A Shanghai-based company has used a giant 3D printer to create a six-storey apartment block and mansion.
The two buildings – constructed on the Suzhou industrial park in China’s Jiangsu Province – took just days to complete.
The 1,100m² prototype development was created using an offsite printer which is around seven metres tall, ten metres wide and 40 metres long.
Large panels were printed using recycled stone and construction waste and reinforced with steel before being delivered to the site and assembled.
The company behind the project, WinSun Decoration Design Engineering believes the technology could deliver buildings 70 per cent faster with just 60 per cent of the material costs normally required and 80 per cent less spent on labour.
The project comes almost a year after WinSun printed ten apartments costing just £3,100each in a single day.
The apartment block – said to be the tallest 3D printed building in the world – took a single day to print and five days to assemble.
The undecorated, three-storey villa cost around £100,000 to complete.
