Developer Peel Lifestyle Outlets received planning permission in principle in 2008, for its Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet, situated next to the Riverside Museum on land bordered by both the River Clyde and River Kelvin. A further green light for the mixed-use development was awarded in January this year.

Under new plans lodged to Glasgow City Council last month, the project will house restaurants, cafes, a 200-bedroom hotel, 12-screen cinema, casino, and a waterfront promenade built on land at Castlebank Quay, Pointhouse Quay and Yorkhill Quay.

If approved, it will comprise of 193,500 sq ft of retail space and 65,000 sq ft of food and beverage and nearly 100,000 sq ft of leisure space, with 120 shops, a large ‘family leisure’ unit and a gym.

There will also be a footbridge over the River Kelvin, riverside walkways, cycle paths and landscaped terraces, plus ‘arrival’ squares, boulevard and plaza spaces.
