Friends of MacRosty Park receives £1,000 donation from Persimmon
Crieff charity Friends of MacRosty Park has banked a £1,000 donation after being announced as one of Persimmon’s Community Champions.
Friends of MacRosty Park is a charity that was by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic champions for MacRosty Park in Crieff. The group works with Perth & Kinross Council to develop, manage and maintain one of Perthshire’s premier parks, to benefit local residents and visitors.
Named after its benefactor, James MacRosty, the park boasts children’s play areas, a Victorian bandstand, picnic areas, a café, easy going walks and an impressive collection of conifer trees.
The charity has grown in number over the years and their work has helped to put the park on the map, with crowds coming to Crieff to see the flower beds and scenery. The group also hosts a number of events, including ‘Music in the Park’, to encourage local residents to make use of the green space.
Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme supports good causes in areas where the company builds new homes. The scheme has seen over £1.5m donated to local charities, clubs and organisations across the country since 2021.
Mo Thomson, Friends of MacRosty Park member, said: “Friends of MacRosty Park are delighted to receive this funding from Persimmon Homes. It will help us buy flowers and plants to maintain the flower beds and keep the Park looking nice for locals and visitors.”
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, added: “Public parks are a key part of local communities and Friends of MacRosty Park has done fantastic work over the years to make MacRosty one of the best-known and most attractive parks in Perthshire.
“I’m delighted we’re able to support the work they do with this donation which I hope will help them to continue to ensure MacRosty is a great local asset for both local residents and visitors.”
